Some home spaces come together quickly. This one absolutely did not.
This little music corner slowly assembled itself over several years while I waited for the right pieces to call to me. Some items lived on wishlists for ages. Others were gifts. A few took me months to finally commit to. But I think that’s why I love this corner so much now.
Nothing here feels rushed or like I bought it just to fill a space.
Every piece has a story attached to it.

The Record Player: Years In The Making
I slowly assembled this music corner over the years waiting for the right pieces to call to me. I had my eyes on the Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB Direct-Drive Professional Record Player for years! Several birthdays ago my friends very graciously surprised me with it as a group gift. Which honestly makes it even more special every time I use it.
An added plus is that it’s a fully operational turntable. Do I know how to DJ? No. Do I intend to learn, who knows! But the equipment is there and it looks gorgeous. I really liked how the turntable is a mix of modern and vintage. It make smelling think of the my grandmothers record player that sat atop a tall speaker.
There’s also something about listening to vinyl that feels so intentional. Music becomes less of a background activity and more of an experience. Putting the record on. Flipping it halfway through.
The model I own is older now, but there are newer versions with bluetooth capabilities.

The Marshall Speaker That Was Worth The Splurge
The Marshall speaker followed a very similar path.
I loved this thing for years before finally buying it during the pandemic and I genuinely have zero regrets.
The sound quality is excellent, but what really sold me are the adjustable bass and treble controls. You can customize the sound depending on what you’re listening to which makes a bigger difference than I expected.
It also does more than just pair with my record player setup. Bluetooth works beautifully. AUX compatibility is great. Which means this speaker has become the soundtrack to a lot of life moments over the years.
Halloween parties.
Birthday parties.
Sunday cleaning playlists.
Cooking in the kitchen.
Impromptu dance breaks.
No issues. No weird connectivity problems. Just consistently good.

The Cabinet That Anchored Everything
The cabinet underneath my setup originally came from Target years ago.
I loved the warmth of the wood and cane detailing because it felt slightly vintage while still fitting into my space.
I know decor preferences are personal and shopping habits change over time, so I’m linking both the original cabinet and a similar alternative that gives a very similar look.
Because sometimes it’s less about finding the exact item and more about finding the feeling you’re going for.
The Decor Pieces That Finally Made It Feel Finished
Even after getting the essentials together something still felt missing. The wall above it looked empty. A little too practical and not enough personality. So I added some Vinyl Display Floating Shelves to add some personality and color while staying on theme. I like to rotate the albums seasonally or even depending on my mood. It’s often a conversation starter when guests are over and leads to more conversation about music.
The final piece was the neon “Let’s Party” sign. Because what’s life without a little party. Plus, it added exactly the amount of fun the corner needed and suddenly everything clicked into place.
Of course this corner wouldn’t be complete without vinyls! I seldomly splurge on a full priced vinyl unless it’s an artist I really love. But going to my local thrift store and finding vinyls is a ritual of mine. Sometimes stumbling on some of my faves or faves of my Moms which is fun to put on when she comes over. FIt’s also so fun to wonder where these gems came from and imagine how much joy they brought others years before now. Finding Tears for Fears’ Tales from the Big Chair remains one of my favorite finds.

Final Thoughts
I think social media sometimes convinces us that homes come together overnight. Mine absolutely did not and is still evolving even after living here for over five years.
This little corner continues to stand the test of time because it was built with love and pieces that brought me joy then and still do today.
It has hosted birthday parties. Halloween parties. Quiet mornings and subtle background music while going about daily life in the home.
